The Spotted Wobbegong shark is a carpet shark that lives in shallow temperate and tropical waters of the Pacific. In the Australian Aboriginal language, because it is found near Australia, wobbegong comes from the words, “shaggy beard”. This is because this carpet shark has growths around its mouth. This shark is well camouflaged well due to its pattern and its weed-like whisker lobes that act as a form of sensory as well. They are ambush predators. Sharks have a two chambered heart in which deoxygenated blood is pumped toward the heart and is then pumped to the gills through the aorta and branches out into afferent brachial arteries when deoxygenation occurs. These afferent brachial arteries eventually form the dorsal aorta. The dorsal aorta pumps blood throughout the body and when the blood is oxygen-poor, it goes through the posterior cardinal veins and then through the posterior cardinal sinuses. The cycle then repeats.
